KFC Pepper Mayo (For Wraps and Sandwiches)

KFC is known for their finger-lickin’ good fried chicken but the chain also offers other delicious foods, including sandwiches. The KFC Twister wrap is one of their latest menu items that aims to appeal to individuals and families alike.

The key to the success of this wrap is the pepper mayonnaise spread, which is made with cayenne, paprika and onion powder. The recipe is also easy to prepare at home using ingredients found in most grocery stores.

KFC has two new varieties of wraps and sandwiches — Honey BBQ Chicken Wrap, which features a soft tortilla wrapped around an Extra Crispy tender coated in honey barbecue sauce, mayo and crunchy pickles; and Spicy Mac & Cheese Chicken Wrap, featuring an Extra Crispy tender topped with KFC’s macaroni & cheese, spicy mayo and a three-cheese blend. The wraps are available for a limited time only. These wraps can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 days or in the freezer for up to 2 months, but are better enjoyed fresh. They can be reheated in the microwave or in a sandwich press.

The Classic KFC Sandwich is a crispy chicken fillet, pickles and mayonnaise served on a bun. The Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffles is a breakfast option that pairs a Georgia Gold chicken fillet with a sweet Belgian waffle.

Ingredients For KFC Pepper Mayo

There’s not much room for error when it comes to the perfect fried chicken sandwich. The combination of a soft bun, creamy sauce, crisp pickles, and a mouthwatering hunk of crispy, crunchy fried chicken is almost impossible to mess up.

To recreate KFC’s spicy chicken wrap at home, you will need a few key ingredients:

Mayonnaise – Make sure to use full fat, plain, and creamy mayonnaise for the best result.

Black pepper – Freshly ground black pepper adds a nice, spicy punch to the sauce.

Lemon juice – Provides acidity and helps the sauce stay creamy.

Tortillas – Choose large, burrito-size flour tortillas for the best results.

Cooked chicken strips – You can either cook your own, or buy pre-cooked frozen ones from the store.

Bread – A soft, fluffy brioche bun or challah bread will pair nicely with the sandwich. Dill pickles – These will add the perfect level of sourness to the sandwich.

Preparation of KFC Pepper Mayo

When it comes to constructing the perfect fried chicken sandwich, there’s not a lot of room for error. The right combination of soft bun, creamy sauce, sharp pickles and crispy hunk of chicken needs to be just so. Then there’s the batter — KFC uses 11 herbs and spices to create their flavor-packed coating, and you need to have the right kind of ingredients at home to reproduce it at home.

For the black pepper mayonnaise, mix together mayonnaise, cayenne, paprika, onion powder and garlic salt. For best results, use full fat mayonnaise or Kewpie brand — it’s silkier and more flavorful than most American brands, and can hold up to a strong spice and vinegar mixture.

Next, make the sandwich or wrap. Slightly warm the tortillas in the microwave or on the stove to make them pliable, then spread the pepper mayonnaise down the center leaving a little space at the ends for wrapping. Place 2 pieces of fried chicken on top, followed by shredded lettuce and sliced tomato. Wrap like a burrito and serve.

Storage

When you make KFC Pepper Mayo at home, you can use it on a variety of foods. The sauce’s creamy texture, spicy undertones and tangy zest add a delicious pop of flavor to chicken wraps, sandwiches and burgers. You can also mix it with low-fat or vegan mayonnaise for a healthy twist.

KFC will debut a new wrap called the Twister in Nashville this month, featuring two Original Recipe tenders, lettuce, tomato and pepper mayo on a toasted tortilla for $5.99. It’s an updated version of a wrap that the chain introduced nearly 20 years ago.

The company will also offer a special combo of the wrap and a medium drink or serving of fries for $8.49, similar to how it sells the family-size Colonel’s Homestyle Brownie. The wraps can be eaten hot or cold. Leftovers should be stored in the refrigerator, wrapped tightly, for up to a week.
